Webventure Artist statement and Gifs

For my web venture I focused on a choose your own adventure game that transports the player back to 7th grade. The player has to navigate the social scene while avoiding becoming a social pariah. They begin the school day bright and early at 6:00 and the rest of their decisions, no matter how seemingly insignificant could lead to their social demise. The player is turned into a 7th grade girl named Sarah and they have two ways to get through the school day with their reputation intact but 5 ways to end the game with their name in the dumps. Being a 7th grader is wacky and very challenging for most people and there are so many easy ways to become a social outcast. Playing this game you'll find middle school nicknames, first period horrors, and so much more. I want the player to walk away of this game laughing and having a lot more respect for the struggles of being a middle schooler.

When coming up with the art style I decided to choose artwork from the MTV show Daria. I wanted to have it consistent with an aesthetic from a tv cartoon that is in school. My goal was to make the vibe of the game to feel nostalgic and slightly like you are back in middle school. I included a mix of gifs and pictures to entertain the player along the way. Below I included two gifs that aren't included in the game to demonstrate my frame by frame animation practice.
